Students, we have been reviewing and taking finals this past week. Be sure you turn books in. Otherwise, you can’t get your report card or graduate without paying for them.
On a positive note…I have had a terrific school year! The best part of my job is getting to know all of you! Seniors, I wish you good success. Remember, do what your mom says. If you follow her advice, you’ll be a lot happier in life.

Speech: After vocab practice, we will to another Discussion test group & evaluate it.
YAL: We are watching the rest of HOles. Then we will cover the discussion notes on it. Bye bye Seniors!
Bible Lit: Keep working on the Matthew packet. Seniors, it’s due when you’re done. Juniors, it is due Tuesday.
Expos: I will explain the Final Test paper. Finish your Awakenings discussion questions.

Speech: After vocab practice, we will do our first test group: Problem solving a curriculum or discipline issue. The rest of the class will evaluate the test group.
YAL: We are viewing Holes, part 2 and continuing the analysis of it.
Bible Lit: Keep working on Matthew Packet, Parts 5 & 6.
Expos Writing: We are working on Awakenings, Part 3. Keep up with your analysis questions.

Speech: After our vocab practice, we will go over the problem solving process: 1.) Define terms/limit topic, 2) Establish criteria for a solution, 3.) brainstorm, 4.) Evaluate ideas & select solution, 5.) Enact solution. WE WILL ALSO DO THE NOTEBOOK CHECK WE MISSED ON FRIDAY: May 5, 6, 8, 9, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16
Young Adult Lit: We are starting Holes today. Work on the literary elements and story analysis as you watch it.
Bible Lit: Work on Matthew parts 3 & 4.
Expos: We are watching Awakenings, Part 2. Keep working on the story analysis.

Speech: After vocab practice, we are doing a decision-making game called Win vs. Trust. Then, there is a journal evaluation later on the group dynamics you experienced.
YAL: We will go over notes on Simon Birch. I will give you printouts or your grade so far. Get your work in!
Bible Lit: We will go over Matthew notes, part 2 and work on your Matthew packet.
Expos Writing: We are watching Awakenings today and making a comparison between the it and Elephant Man. Answer your analysis questions.

Speech: After vocab practice, we will take notes on Group Roles, do a matching activity on roles, and write a journal entry.
YAL: We are watching Simon Birch part 3 and doing the analysis of it. If time, we will go over the discussion questions together today.
Bible Lit: We are starting the Book of Matthew today. There will be some notes and then do Part 1 using the New International Version of the Bible.
Expos: We will pass back our research papers today and finish the Elephant Man discussion questions, which are due.

Speech: After vocab practice, we are doing Group Communication questions Part 2. This is a change in plans because of the MCA science testing.
YAL: We are watching Simon Birch part 2 and continue working on the analysis of this story.
Bible Lit: We will introduce the Book of Matthew with Notes #1. Work on Matthew Part 1 in your packet.
Expos: We are on Elephant Man, Part 3 today. Complete your discussion questions.

Speech: After vocab practice, we will take a look at Who Talks to Whom by having a discussion on top movie starts. Someone will observe your group and draw the communication diagram. Then, you will write a journal entry on the communication in your group (chain of command? Wheel? Open?).
Young Adult Lit: We are starting Simon Birch today and you will be analyzing the story as you watch. Look for irony, themes, similarities to Freak the Mighty, plotline elements, symbolism, conflict, and other literary elements we have studied.
Bible Lit: We will go over New Testament notes, Part 2 and you will do a study using the Bible Dictionaries.
Expos: We are on Day 2 of Elephant Man. Don’t neglect your discussion questions.

Speech: After vocab practice, we will look at 4 kinds of leadership models: authoritarian, democratic, figurehead, and non-functioning. You will be taking notes and analyzing leaders you know.Teacher’s Leadership notes
Young Adult Lit: We are taking the final test on Freak the Mighty.
Bible Lit: We are taking a quiz on Moses and then we are doing an Intro to the New Testament.
Expos Writing: We are starting the movie Elephant Man and analyzing the symbolism and literary elements in it.

Speech: After vocab practice, we are going over some notes on Cohesion vs. Conformity in group process. We will take a look at how conformity was expected of the Nazi youth under Hitler. Then you will write a journal entry about it.
Bible Lit: Moses Part #9 is due today.
Expos Writing: Your research papers are due today! You lose 15% percent immediately and it gets worse as time passes, so please don’t procrastinate!
