Friday night, November 1st in Cloquet, the Warrior football team scored to go up 8-6 with 48 seconds, qualifying for the Minnesota State Class A Football Tournament as the Section 7A champions!

The game, vs Mille Lacs was physical, intense and played mostly between the 20's. The Warriors had three drives inside the Raiders 5, but came up empty. Mille Lacs kept the pressure on Warriors, keeping their high scoring offense out of sync and out of the end zone. Although the Warriors out gained the Raiders by a significant amount.

The Warriors defense, with the exception of one drive early in the 2nd quarter, kept the Raiders at bay throughout the game.

Down 0-6 at Halftime, the Warriors regrouped and came out flying and aggressive on defense to start the 2nd half. As the 2nd half wore on, the tension mounting, the sidelines and the Warrior fans became more vocal and engaged, cheering the boys on.

With 5 minutes left, the Warriors drove to the Raiders 5, but were unable to punch in a score, turning the ball over. With chants of "Defense! Defense" ringing from the Warrior faithful, the defense stood tall and forced a punt.

Getting the ball back with about 3:40 left on their own 39, the Warriors would earn a first down, but then while under the same intense pressure he'd been under all game, senior QB Caiden Schjenken through an interception, with the Raiders getting the ball back on their own 30. On the second play after the turnover, the Warriors forced a fumble and recovered it on Mille Lacs side of the field with one time out left.

After completing a long run and catch to senior Nick Bakkedahl, and a couple of runs by seniors Ben Storlie and Sean Drotts, the Warriors found themselves facing a 4th and goal, with 48 seconds left on the clock. After using their last timeout, the Warriors hurried to the line, and ran Schjenken to the right, the line created a hole and with Storlie and Drotts leading the way, Schjenken scored. Instead of going for the PAT for the win, Coach Brent Schimek, trusted his team to earn the 2 point conversion, putting an exclamation point on the touchdown. Running the same play, they'd just scored on, Schjenken crossed the goal line standing up!

The Warriors would close out the game with an interception by senior Damian Cash, and 3 kneel downs, making them them 2024 Section 7A championships!

The Warriors first game of State is Friday night, Nov 8th in Becker at 7pm versus Mahnomen/Wauben who they beat to 3 years ago in Brainerd to make it to the Semi-Finals at US Bank Stadium.

Congratulations to the Warrior players, Coaches, Families and Community Members for supporting the Team!

80% of our 8th grade achieved their Q2 reading goal

These amazing 8th Grade Students achieved something that I haven’t seen in my teaching career. As a class, 80% of them achieved their Q2 reading goal and today we got to celebrate! Blueberry Bowl were awesome hosts, and their new arcade area was a hit. Step Up picked up the bill for pizza, bus, and bowling. I am so proud of these kids that I get to educate daily. I’m also grateful to my boss Delana Smith for supporting our kids and helping make this happen. Our kids had a great morning! Thank you Jeremy Jmazing Magnuson Kimberly Gullickson Kole Schultz Delana Smith, and Bre Kaanta.
