Local clinics have reported to public health an increasing number of cases of Fifth Disease in our community. Fifth Disease is not an uncommon disease, nor is it reportable. Generally, it is not something the Minnesota Department of Health will follow up on. It is typically a self-limiting disease, meaning there is no treatment. Provided below are links to information about Fifth Disease. It is recommended that the “Fifth Disease Parent Fact Sheet” be sent home to families. Please utilize the “Fifth Disease Provider Fact Sheet” to answer questions families may have. They can also reach out to public health or their primary care providers.
